Tom grew up in a large family in rural Shropshire where meals were always an event. He trained briefly as a chef before realising he preferred writing about food to cooking it professionally. After a stint at a catering trade magazine he moved into consumer journalism, contributing to food and home titles across the UK. He has a particular fondness for regional British cooking — the kind that rarely makes it onto television — and writes about interiors with the same appetite he brings to a good meal. He lives in Leeds with his wife and their rescue greyhound.
